- The Melcher-Dallas Public Library has a supply of FREE winter gloves and hats, until supplies are gone.
- The library is also seeking donations of buttons for a December craft project. The buttons are needed by December 13th. The most desired colors are red, green, white, and black. However, a donation of any color of button would be appreciated.
- The Library will once again be hosting the Lighted Christmas Tree display...make your plans now to participate!
November Closure Dates
The Melcher-Dallas Public Library will be closed on the following dates, during the month of November:
- Closed on November 2nd, 9th, 11th
- Closed on November 28th, 29th, 30th
Craft With Me
For our November projects, we will be painting on wood rounds, with a Thanksgiving theme planned
as well as making Christmas Gnomes out of pine cones.
The first session will be on November 1, 2024 from 1-3 p.m.
A second session is scheduled for November 6, 2024 from 6-8 p.m.
Please advise Lori (641-947-6700) if you are planning to attend and which session.
Having a 'head count' will allow us to have the necessary supplies on hand for the project.
This is a free project, but donations are accepted in order to purchase craft supplies for future projects.
Library to Host Pop Up Information Event
If you are needing assistance with your heating bill, please plan to attend one of two meeting being held at the Melcher-Dallas Public Library. The dates scheduled are November 12th and December 10th. For questions regarding this event, please contact Jessi {IMPACT Community Outreach Specialist} at 515-236-9021.

- The first Wednesday of every month is Pizza Lunch at the Senior Center. Cost is $4, and sides are available to share. 11:30 a.m. Please call the day before or by 10 a.m. the day of, so that they know how much pizza they need to order. 641-891-7009 0r 641-947-4911 You may bring a dish to share but it is not required. Everyone is welcome to this monthly event. This group also meets the third Wednesday of every month, at 11:30 a.m.
- Food Trucks every Friday evening, from 5-8 p.m. located on the square. This gives you a choice of supper with our local D&S Kitchen which is open till 8 p.m. and serving nightly specials until 7 p.m., Hooties and Casey's
Melcher Dallas Notification/Alert System Launched

For several months now, City Staff have been working to set up a Notification/Alert System to allow better communication with our residents. This system is hosted by Everbridge. Now, critical alerts about our water supply, community events, or other important information can be sent out quickly so everyone can stay informed. We have set up a web page “Stay Informed with Alerts” with links that will allow you to sign up and learn more information about the Notifications and Alerts. There will be more information sent out with your water bill this month. Please spread the word so your neighbors can stay informed as well.
